5 Last Minute Halloween Costumes
October 3, 2018 Marlena Chesner

It’s that time of year again- the time when you realize putting off your costume design wasn’t a great idea and now you’re scrambling for one. If you’re anything like me, this is a yearly trend. It’s not that I’m not excited for Halloween (in fact, it’s my favorite holiday) but life is hectic and a Halloween costume isn’t that high on my list on need-to-dos.

Under a Rain Cloud

Wear whatever you like! The only thing you’ll need for this costume is some battery powered string lights, an old umbrella, glue, and a bunch of cotton balls. Situate the light pack at the top of the umbrella, so you can hide it, and drape the lights down around you. Then, fluff up your cotton balls by pulling them apart and then glue glue glue. The outcome is a gorgeous floating raincloud that will be sure to stun at the Halloween party. Take a look at Melissa Denise’s DIY tutorial for more inspiration.

Woodland Fairy or Water Nymph

Jordan Hanz

This costume is all about the makeup. You’ll want to create a magical look with colorful cheek and brow highlights, bold eyeliners, bright lipstick, and even some glitter if you desire. If you have a lot of bold blues and purples, try for a water nymph look. Pair it with a flowy dress and you’re done. If you have more neutral colored makeup, transform yourself into a woodland fairy. Wear anything nature inspired and add some flowers to your hair to complete the look.

What kind of ghost do you want to be? Take a look at your closet and pick out just about anything. If you want to be the ghost of a glamazon, choose something fancy. Maybe you’d like to be the ghost of someone famous! Just make sure we’re not appropriating or insensitive in our choice. The only thing you need to purchase for this costume is some white cream foundation. This ManicPanic foundation comes highly recommended on Amazon and only costs $10!

Bob's Burgers Character

This one is really simple, super-fun, and requires almost no prep work. Choosing which character you’d like to be is dependent only on what you already have in the closet. If you have a blue skirt and tee shirt, go as Tina. Only have a pair of jeans and a red top? Linda, it is! If you decide to go as Louise, you probably have a green dress but you’ll need to make or buy a pink bunny hat. Hopefully, you’ve all seen Bob’s Burgers. If not, drop everything and binge watch it. No regrets.

Bread Winner

This one is punny as heck and super simple. Do you have a tee shirt (color preferred, but white is just fine)? Check! Do you have a pair of sports shorts, joggers, or sweats? I know you do! Then your outfit is basically done. All you need is a loaf or two of bread and a gold medal. If you don’t have a real one laying around (I know I don’t), go to your nearest dollar store and pick some up.

I hope that you’ve been inspired by this list and are well on your way to creating your fabulous costume. We’d love to see what you come up with, so send us your pictures at Facebook or Instagram.
